About the Headline Analyzer

Headline Analyzer scores a title from zero to 100 by weighing the signals most strongly tied to click-through rate. As you type into the single Headline field, a progress bar and a large Headline score fill up while the badge beside them classifies the result as Strong, OK, or Weak. Length is rewarded when a headline lands between 50 and 60 characters, the range search engines usually render completely, and word count scores best between 6 and 12 words. Power words such as ultimate, proven, secret, and save contribute eight points each up to a cap of 25, the presence of emotional words like amazing adds ten points, and a number in the headline adds fifteen. The stat tiles report Length, Words, Power words, Emotional word count, and whether a number appears, with detected terms listed as badges under the score card. Below that, a Suggestions panel lists actionable feedback with icons, telling you to trim long titles, add a power word, or include a number. The scoring model is intentionally approximate and meant to inspire A/B testing rather than guarantee anything.

Common use cases

  • A/B testing two headline drafts before publishing a blog post.
  • Sizing up an email subject line with power and emotional words against the score model.
  • Refining landing page H1s to include numbers and stay near the ideal length.
  • Reviewing older articles to see which titles scored strongly for re-promotion.
  • Drafting social posts that follow the same length and word-count patterns.
  • Teaching content writers the signals that move click-through rates.

Technical SEO best practices

  • Draft titles between 50 and 60 characters and 6 to 12 words whenever placement allows.
  • Include one number and one power word to capture both bonus pools without keyword stuffing.
  • Test several Strong-scoring variants rather than publishing the first headline that clears 70.
  • Read the Suggestions list for each weak draft, since it points at the missing signal directly.
  • Re-check the score after changing a single word, because one power word can shift the band to Strong.
  • Keep character counting honest by relying on the Length stat, not the word processor.

Tips

  • Keep drafts near the 50 to 60 character ideal and check the Length stat as you trim.
  • Add one concrete number and one power word in the same headline to capture both bonus pools.
  • Treat the Strong threshold of 70 as a target, then A/B two strong variants against each other.
  • Retype candidate headlines rather than pasting, since drafts evolve only when you edit them live.
